Technical summary
Bosch has moved upmarket with its new BMP280 sensor, an environmental sensor with temperature and barometric pressure that is an upgrade of the BMP085 / BMP180 / BMP183. This sensor is ideal for all kinds of weather sensing and can even be used over both I2C and SPI.
This precision sensor from Bosch is the best low-cost solution for measuring barometric pressure with an absolute precision of ±1hPa and temperature with a precision of ±1.0°C. Since pressure changes with altitude and the pressure measurements are good, you can also use it as an altimeter with a precision of ±1 meter.
The sensor is soldered onto a PCB and comes with a 3.3V regulator and logic level shifting so that you can use it with a 3V or 5V logic microcontroller without any trouble.
